Last weekend, I spent a day on the water and I couldn’t feel more cleansed. There really is nothing quite like that salty sea air! When I got back to the city, I missed that mermaid feeling so much, I whipped up a beach hair spray.
Since I’m in protective locs right now, this gives my dreads a grittier, worn-in feel with the loveliest salty scent. Love this as a texturizing spray for my natural curls — also works well for straight hair to give it a sea goddess wave look.
Ingredients
Reusable glass spray bottle
1 cup warm distilled water
1 tablespoon fractionated coconut oil
1 tablespoon sea salt
1 tablespoon aloe vera gel
A few drops of essential oil — I used jasmine today for its fresh, herbal aroma

Directions
In a bowl, stir in sea salt with the warm, distilled water until it dissolves. I just heated my water on the stove until it was warm, not boiling. Next, stir in the fractionated coconut oil. It won’t quite mix all the way, but stirring 30 seconds or so will do. Add in aloe vera gel and a few drops of your essential oil. Pour into glass spray bottle and shake vigorously before spraying onto hair each time.

Less is more with this one — spray onto hair and scrunch as you go for textured, mermaid hair vibes. Spray lightly on your bod for some ocean aromatherapy.
